A tall grey haired European woman with a map in a Shanghai backstreet was always going to attract a crowd. Her limited mandarin challenged by the insistent suggestions of those gathered around her, all pointing in different directions. How could she choose?

Speeding home through Kensington Gardens past the Albert Memorial in the rain in a London cab. Looking forward to being home .
We gathered today to say farewell to a mother, a wife, a friend, an aunt , a neighbour. There were tears, many and laughs, some, as we shared tales of times over 87 years. Annoyances, differences, squabbles put aside, united for a time in shared grief.
Emotions ran high, some managing to hold back tears more successfully than others. Tears flowed for me.
And when it was all done, a sense of release.
